Objective

It is my desire to obtain a position as VMS Systems Administrator at a company that values personal initiative and a commitment to achieving results.

VMS Skills

I have worked with Open-VMS for over ten years; five of those years were spent managing a four-state, five-node network. That network included seven VAXes and over two hundred PCs, utilizing TCP/IP aswell as bridges. I installed the DEC Pathworks on most of those PCs, and monitored the VMS portion daily. I have installed the VMS on at least two micro-VAXes, and ALL-IN-1 on one. When we upgraded our disk drive farm, I moved the accounts from the old drives to the new. I have written extensive DCL command procedures, including a complicated backup routine that did daily, weekly, and monthly backups of five of our seven VAXes. I also wrote a DCL routine for checking the CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) on data files, and reporting on any and all changes to those files. I was responsible for monitoring the computers and ORACLE databases to verify their availability for use before the work shift began. I supported all of the desktop users, from answering questions to troubleshooting PC and connectivity problems.
